What is TENS?
TENS simply stands for transcutaneous (through skin) electrical nerve stimulation. It is is a pain management therapy used stimulate healing. TENS achieves this by using low-level pulses of electrical energy to stimulate the nerves directly, blocking pain signals to the brain while simultaneously stimulating endorphins to release. The effects of this includes increasing blood circulation and alleviating localised as well as regional pain.
What is EMS?
Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), also known as neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) or electromyostimulation describes the use of electric impulses to stimulate muscles to contract.
This process combines frequency treatment formulations with a range of advanced waveforms to mimic the body’s natural contractions, passing gentle bio-pulses through the body tissues and muscle groups, stimulating blood-flow and improving circulation, speeding the body’s natural healing or conditioning process.
What is the PainPod? EMS? TENS? Or both?
To provide a drug-free solution for pain and a device to aid recovery, the team at PainPod developed an advanced TENS device for pain reduction with added EMS technology to assist with muscle recovery and enhance performance. So, is the PainPod a TENS machine? Strictly speaking yes, but there’s more to it than that. in essence, the PainPod is a 3-in-1 device – TENS (powerful pain relief), EMS (muscle strengthening, toning & recovery) and massage (stress relief, blood circulation).
That’s the PainPod difference.
